Chicago Adoptions

At ALIVE Rescue Memphis, we take placing animals in their forever homes very seriously.  Our goal is to take the steps to ensure each animal/family pairing is an ideal match so the animal can live in harmony with his/her forever home. Our adoption application process is below:

  1. Submit Application
    • Applicants must be 21 years or older and must be able to provide proof of age.
    • Applicant must live within 50 miles of Chicago if interested in adopting.
    • Please allow 4-7 business days to process your application.

  2. Approve Application
    • Applicants are required to provide personal and vet references. We will be calling these references before approving the application.

  3. Interview
    • Applicants will interview with the ALIVE Rescue President first. If approved, you will get to speak to the dogs foster family after.

  4. Pay Fee
    • Currently, the adoption fee to adopt is $475 for ages 1 year and up and $500 for under a year. This fee does include transport to Chicago.

  5. Sign Adoption Contract
    • Once adoption is approved and fees are paid, applicants will sign our ALIVE Rescue Adoption Contract to finalize the adoption.

  6. Take the Pet Home
    • Welcoming your new family member is the last step, and the best step!

Additional Adoption Info

• The first time you will meet your dog in person is when they arrive on transport in Chicago, UNLESS you choose to travel to Memphis before the adoption is final, to meet your potential family member. We do our best in the interview process to ask as many questions possible about your current animals, household, and general things you are looking for in a dog. We do this to ensure all parties are comfortable and happy with the adoption. It is our goal to give you a companion for 10-15 years. We want our dogs to be in forever homes! We understand this type of adoption is not for everyone and would encourage any applicant who is uncomfortable with not meeting one of our dogs beforehand, to refrain from submitting an application.

• We require an additional $75 training deposit at the time of adoption. You will be required to enroll and complete a training class with your new companion at one of our approved training facilities. Once ALIVE Rescue Memphis receives proof of the completed class, this $75 deposit will be refunded.

• Any current pets must be up to date on vaccinations, and be spayed/neutered. Exceptions to this will only be considered if proof of a medical explanation is provided.

• All members of the family living in the home where the animal will be placed must be interviewed.
